Crisis Resources

A list of crisis resources have been provided for ease of access. Sometimes things may be challengeing inbetween sessions and you may need more immediate support before we are able to meet with you. If your situation is urgent and immediate, please call 911 for the fastest response. Otherwise, please access the different resources listed. We encourage you to share with your counsellor if these resources have been used so we can work with you to develop a safety plan.

If you are feeling like you have lost hope and are struggling to cope, if you are dealing with thoughts of suicide, or if you are worried about someone else, 9-8-8: Suicide Crisis Helpline is here for you.

 

BC Mental Health Support Line  – call 310-6789, 24 hours a day. 

Offers emotional support, information on appropriate referral options, and a wide range of support relating to mental health concerns.

 

Battered Women’s Support Services  – call 1-855-687-1868
For any woman who has experienced abuse in an intimate relationship, childhood sexual abuse or adult sexual assault may access our services.

 

BC Society For Male Survivors Of Sexual Abuse  – call 604-682-6482 or email victimservices@bc-malesurvivors.com

The British Columbia Society for Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse (BCSMSSA) is a non-profit society that provides therapeutic services for male-identifying persons who have experienced sexual or domestic abuse.

 

VictimLink BC  – call or text 1-800-563-0808
VictimLink BC supports victims of crime, including family and sexual violence, and human trafficking. Support workers can provide legal information, referrals to victim and counselling services, and transition housing.

 

BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services 

BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services helps people dealing with mental health and substance use challenges in British Columbia. They also support those in custody and people referred by courts for assessment and treatment.

 

CRCL: Crisis Response, Community Led
CRCL is a mobile, community-led crisis response team that provides support to people 13 years and older who are experiencing a mental health crisis. CMHA BC is currently overseeing and administering the delivery of six CRCL teams in North and West Vancouver, Victoria, New Westminster, Prince George, Comox Valley, and is coming soon to Kamloops

211 – call 211
211 is a free and confidential service that connects people to helpful and vital resources in their community. We provide information and referral to a broad range of community, government, and social services that assist with: basic needs like food and shelter, mental health and addictions support, legal and financial assistance, and support for seniors, newcomers.

BC First Responders’ Mental Health

Kuu-us Crisis Line – call 1-800-588-8717, 24 hours a day
KUU-US Crisis and Care Society offers 24-hour support to individuals in the Port Alberni area and Indigenous communities across British Columbia.

 

Lamathut Crisis Line – call 1-800-721-0066, 24 hours a day
The Indian Residential School Survivors Society (IRSSS) operates a 24-hour crisis line to provide urgent emotional support for Survivors, families, and Indigenous communities across British Columbia and beyond. Our crisis line remains open during office closures and holidays, ensuring help is always available. Survivors can also access support through this line as part of the National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence.

 

Hope for Wellness – call 1-855-242-3310, 24 hours a day
The Hope for Wellness Helpline is available to all Indigenous people across Canada. Experienced and culturally competent counsellors are reachable by telephone and online ‘chat’ 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Kids Help Phone – call 1-800-668-6868, or text 686-868, or live chat

 

Foundry
Foundry offers free and confidential mental health and wellness services for youth ages 12-24 in British Columbia and their families. Foundry offers virtual and in-person services across BC.

 

Reporting Child Abuse in BC – call 1-800-663-9122
The Child, Family and Community Service Act (CFCSA) requires that anyone who has reason to believe that a child or youth has been or is likely to be abused or neglected, and that the parent is unwilling or unable to protect the child or youth, must report the suspected abuse or neglect to a child welfare worker.
